We came across something pretty strange the other day and I wanted to brush it by the collective mind. One of our remote sites has a two node active passive windows 2003 cluster. When all the resources have been rolled over to the primary node including SQL server we execute xp_regread from Query Analyzer and are picking up custom keys we generated on the currently passive node. In short our active node is reading the registry of the passive node. We have asked our Microsoft Rep to look into it but we keep getting the standard canned response of we have never seen that before you should wipe it.
Before anyone asks we also failed over all resources to the secondary node and tried the same experiment on a new custom registry key we created on the primary node. The result of this experiment was the same as the first we read our custom key in from the primary node's registry while SQL Server was running on the secondary node.
Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.

I hope I understand correctly; but are you trying to read the registry of the non active node? Can you give some insight why you would want to do that?

No we want to be able to read the registry on the node that the SQL Server is currently running on.
