I do a large amount of development using web content management systems and was coming up against a frustrating bug.
The vendor suggested that I install Mozilla Firebird as a browser with the LiveHTTPHeaders plug-in. Yea-Gods its useful.

In a similar vein, I find that in about 50% of cases I cannot respond to forum threads on on this site using IE6. The status bar of the browser says that something is downloading from the site, though whatever it is exceeds the display capacity of the status bar.
To find out what that something was I used FireBird with the LiveHTTPHeaders plug-in.
Typically, Mozilla has no problems so whatever blocks IE6 remain a mystery.

So you dont see the bug at all in Mozilla?

No Andy, but then under Mozilla the reply form is just bog standard HTML rather than the ActiveX control you see under IE.
Under IE I can see all the toolbars and smilies and these seem to work with the exception of the table toolbar button, which produces a small unsizeable window with "Web Dialog" written in it. This then redirects to your "Access Denied" page.
The status bar at the bottom of the screen says (1 item remaining) http://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/post.aspx?forumid=61&messageid=93623...
I cannot see what the actual item is due to the limitations of the IE Status bar.
I've tried clearing my local IE cache, shutting down all browser windows then restarting.
I suspect the problem lies with the actual ActiveX control itself, but lord only knows why.
My laptop is service packed and hotfixed up to the eyebrows.
I thought the problem could have been due to me clicking on the control before it had finished loading, but this doesn't seem to be the problem.
I suspect that this one will be a sod to reproduce/fix.

Using Mozilla 1.5 here and I see standard HTML. Reload doesn't bring in the Active X control, but otherwise works fine.

Especially since Im not a web dude, my main experience consists of response.write! We'll fix it or replace it, of all the things to not work right...

Andy,
Sorry to add to your woes but I also get the (1 item remaining) message on the shwmessage screen, although everything appears to work correctly.
http://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/shwmessage.aspx?forumid=61&messageid=93623
If I click the e-mail notification link within Outlook to go to the site I get the problem every time.
If I copy and paste the link into the browser then its 50:50 whether I get the problem or not.
I notice that when the shwmessage.aspx page gives the (1 item remaining) message the animated SQL LiteSpeed banner doesn't load (macromedia flash file).
If this banner is delivered via ActiveX then this suggests to me that there is a generic ActiveX problem.

Thanks David. Waiting to hear back from the forum vendor, plus hopefully today will swap out the menu code for the licensed version just to see if that makes any difference.
