After nearly two years of service with no problems what-so-ever, enterprise manager has started to suffer from intermitent problems connecting remotely to the live database server.
This happens on all databases and we are absolutely 100% sure than the login details are correct. Sometime it just works straight away, at other time you can not connect whatever you try.
We are sure its not the firewall but other than that we have no ideas, obviously something has changed, but what?
Is there a possibility that a setting of some description has been accidently altered?
Any ideas before I go mad would be very helpful

have you installed new network cards ?? are network cards load balanced ??
have you tried connecting to the server via TCP/IP ?
i have had something similar when using multiple NICS - also look to see if there is an IP routing problem - try a tracroute...
just some suggestions
