The company I work for is considering a third party app that has an MSDE version which is significantly less expensive. My questions are:
1. Can you use Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager with it (considering we already have a license for MSSQL2K)?
2. Can cross database (MSSQL2K -> MSDE and MSDE -> MSSQL2K) queries be performed?
3. Data can be pulled from MSSQL2K via replication, right?
I understand the other limitations defined on the MS site (2GB DB size limit, concurent users...)
Thanks for any help, I'm the one that will be doing application integration and I want to make life easier by figuring this out now.

Sure, It is just another version of SQL Server.

Replication
MSDE 2000 fully supports both merge and snapshot replication both as a publisher and as a subscriber, allowing you to keep copies of the same data on multiple sites, sometimes covering hundreds of sites. MSDE 2000 also supports other forms of replication, but only in a limited capacity. MSDE 2000 can participate in transactional replication in a subscriber capacity only.
