Hello
I have the following problem in Windows98 first edition.
I need to use Named pipes to connect to an SQL SERVER instead of TCP/IP but everytime i open my application software the dialup box opens to establish a connection to the Internet.
I also upgrade the connectivity client tool with my CD of SQL 2000 SERVER, but they don´t work also.
I need a suggestion to solve my problem.
Many thanks

Luis,
Win98 does not support named pipes. Win2000, XP or Server 2003 are the only Windows operating systems that do. If the problem is the dialup login popping up, try opening Internet Explorer and select the menu items tools, Internet options. Then click on the Connections tab. Select "Never Dial a connection". I hope this helps.

try to install MDAC 2.7 and its SP in your Application language on any client machine (which has any O/S).
if it doesn't work, uninstall Connectivivty Tools from Sql Server 2000 Cd (or reinstall it again) on the same machine ..
if this dosnb't work (after all of this) , try the above steps on a new w98 machine ..
by the way (win 95 and 98 first edition) will not connect using Named Pipe ... so I think you have to instal the protocol of NetBeui in the protoclos of network
I hope this help u.
please tell us if the problem is solved.
