I am having problems getting transactional replication to work with identities. I have manually created the subscriber tables with Identity set to Yes(Not for Replication) and all agent logons have sufficient rights to replicate to the relevant tables.
The error I am receiving is 'cannot update identity column ID' when the subscription is active. The snapshot completes okay but the subscription(push) never completes.
Any ideas anyone??

Subscribers should not have identity set to yes unless you're doing updating subscribers (or merge).

The subscriber server is part of our disaster recovery strategy. If we need to invoke the site, how would the data compare to the original site?
In other words, would changing the subscriber cause any potential problems further down the line?

You can have identities with the "not for replication" clause turned on. In case of a disaster , the subscriber becomes you primary site. http://www.microsoft.com/sql has documents decribing this. If you dont get it, shoot me an email at srini_kris@hotmail.com an i will email the docs to you
