Interactive database related display for 8th grade students

I am looking for database related interactive/hands-on activities that I can use for a job expo I have been asked to attend. I need activities (or more likely AN activity) that will "engage the students and encourage them to ask questions.
The kids will be in 8th grade.
Any ideas will be appreciated!

Why not make a small net app that "runs an internet radio station". You have a controlled list of songs (MP3s) that can be streamed to the client for them to evaluate and a main streaming feed. The songs that are actually played in the main feed are based on a rotation that is entirely determined by users votes. You need a DB to store the songs (media and metadata) and for the whole evaluation / voting side of the application.
The great part about this is that for your booth the "internet radio station" part of the app is just audio on your speakers. The kids will come by to vote for their favourites to get whatever crap the last cliche picked off the speakers, which gives you an opportunity to pitch to them.
