I installed SQL 2k on a test machine - WinNT4 with SQL6.5. The install went fine and SQL 2k was happy. Then I used the Switch script to switch the machine back to 6.5. It reported successful operation. But 6.5 will not stay running. According to the log, 6.5 completes a normal boot. But then it shutsdown without loggin the shutdown. When I switch to 2k it exhibits the same behavior. Even after reboots. I removed 2k. Still same issue.
As this is a test machine, I could reinstall 6.5, but the goal of the excersize is preparation for migrating some mission critical servers, with very small maintenance windows.
Anyone seen this?

How are you starting your SQL Server Service? Is it a Domain Account? Or a local system account?
Just a thought... Might have been an issue with this. I tried this last month.. ID I used in SQL 6.5 does not have the permission..... I got to change this in Services.
