We have SQL backend with Access frontend.
And have upgraded to SQL 2000 but have not upgraded the client as we have > 400 PC's and the SQL 7.0 client works fine.
We are now starting to replace about 100 PC's and I'd like to know if it would be prudent to upgrade these machines before rollout?
Any downside to running both versions for the time it takes to replace all units [possibly years]. Or just leave all as 7.0 clients.
Thanks

Should work fine. Only time it would matter is if you use a named instance, to get that to work on the client you need MDAC 2.6 or higher.

i think you may need to install MDAC 2.7 or higher.
but you must check correctly your Access application on SQL Server before putting user on it .. so you may found some forms that does not work correctly..
if you face any problem .. i am here to help.

of course I mean .. that you have to install MDAC 2.7 or higher on all client machines.
and install MDAC 2.7 or higher on your SQL server 2000 or just install SQL SERVER 2000 SP3 which include in it MDAC 2.7.
so server and all clients has the same MDAC.
i hope this help u.
