Hello. I'm having problems with a job running an executable that uses a CDO connection to an Exchange Server. I can run the executable with no trouble from a DTS package, but when I run it from a job the executable will begin to run but then when it tries to create a connection to the Exchange Server it hangs up. I've set up my test box to run under my profile, to have SQL Server agent run under my profile, and to have SQL Server use my e-mail account. Yet there appears to be some change in permissions between running a DTS package and running a job. The box is SQL 2000 with SP3.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Does it work if you execute the run the DTS package from the server?
DTS runs client side, hence if you run it via Enterprise manager on your pc it runs on your pc, whereas a scheduled job will run it on the server.

Hello.
Yes it does work. I'm running all of my tests form the test server. I've been able to access other computers from a test job (net use command), and using the whoami command the job appears to be running as me.
The only thing I've been able to find even close to this problem was a bug between CDO 1.2 and Exchange 5.5 (Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q269355), but I'm using CDO 1.21 and Exchange 6.0 so I should be OK on that count.
Thanks for the idea, though.
Any other ideas out there?
