hi together
first of all, i'm new here. my name is urs and i'm
living in zurich(switzerland)
i have a sql2000 with latestest sp installed.
on 2 database i have a fulltext for several tables.
this index will be populate(incremental) every night.
now i realised that the sql-server starts also an
incremental population during the day. why?
there is no need to do this, there are no update or insert
statements which runs during the day for these tables.
could anyone tell me whats happen here?!?
thanks for your help

Check your population job schedule to see how it is scheduled. It may be scheduled to run many times a day.

It can also be populated manually from Full-Text catalogs in database. By the way, how do you know it was be populated during the day?

i realise it, when the website coming slow and slow. i check the database server and see that the population is started without any manipulation from me.

The population job can also be started using sp_start_job by someone or application. The execution of sp_start_job permissions is default to the public role.
Suggest you to use profiler to trace it.
