What software do I need to purchase to support a SQL Server database that our soccer club's website is hosting. Can I purchase Enterprise Manager separately or do I need to purchase an entire instance of SQL Server? I will need to be able to create and modify stored procedures, as well as DTS packages and tables.
Thanks for your help,
Randy

If it is MS SQL and you have licenses etc you can install the EM from the original CD. Just choose to install client tools only.
However if that is an issue have a look out for Web DBA which I have used in the past to good effect, free for MS SQL, not sure just how functional it is for stored procs etc though.

Unless its a big club you might find Access to be a more cost effective solution. If you're having the db hosted by someone else, they will have the licenses and should be able to provide you with a copy of EM.

Thanks for the info. I don't have a SQL Server license. Our web host has the SQL Server license, and he told me his license does not allow him to provide me with a copy of EM. I'm using Access now to link to the SQL databases on the host site, but I need EM or equivalent to manage the stored procedures and DTS packages. Can anybody recommend an Enterprise Manager equivalent that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Hello,
Depending on the version of Access you are using, you walk through Create New - select Project (Existing Database). This type of connection will present a close facsimile of Enterprise Manager. You can manage stored procedures through this venue.
Good luck,

I tried Jody's solution and that worked well. I have Access 2000 and by creating a new project it automatically requests the SQL Server information and allows for the creation and maintenance of stored procedures and views. Thanks again...
