FAQ

  • I keep seeing the same questions in the forums over and over again. Seems that most users don't search first. Don't you guys ever get tired of it? An FAQ is seriously needed here.

  • Good point. The same questions do return on a regular basis.

A FAQ might be a good thing for certain questions. But, imho, that won't solve the *real* problem.

People should search for an answer before posting their question. If they don't search the site now, they won't search the FAQ either.

  • FAQs can be hard to search through. I know that it can be more time consuming for me than posting a question sometimes. Unless they are extremely well organized, which this one (actually no SQL ones I've seen are). Also, they're hard to read when there are so many question.

Hopefully we'll make some progress in this area at some point, but thanks for pointing it out.

  • Hi!

You wouldn't know how many posts this forum would have if I didn't search for the answer first I usually try google and some SQL sites before I post. And BTW, the FAQs on this site shouldn't be called FAQs they should just be called AQs. No offence, but over 90% of them are useless. Have people really asked those questions? FREQUENTLY?

Oh, and have you guys ever thought of writing a book? The title could be "SQL - Common questions answered"

  • heyyyyy!

Didn't even know there was such a book! Maybe I'll by it!

  • Holy crap batman! I just now noticed under the "Resources" menu item you do have a FAQ! My bad! And yours too, Steve

BTW, don't bother with the book, it's just a rehash of the FAQ that is available free online. There is a lot of good info there tho.

I'll have to think about it.
