What would be the restrictions to using "Transactional Replication" as a method of failover?
Remember this when a developer tells you it will just be temporary. Temporary = Permanent.

Dont think there really are any as long as you replicate all data and you keep the procs in sync. It's an ongoing debate of the merits of replication vs log shipping. I like replication because I can easily use it as a reporting server.

I use Transactional replication on serveral DBs with SPs replicated over. Only issue is making sure all views, accounts and permissions are moved over. Also I don't replicate the constraints, I just add them and disable for the time being. The only major problem is once you fail over to resync back when the original comes up and administering.
