We are importing a fixed field text file with about 80 fields to be parsed. We can easily insert the vertical line "delimiters" defining each field, save the package, and run it successfully. But when we had to bring up an existing package in DTS the vertical lines do NOT display for us to select (though the package still runs successfully.) The vanisihing lines problem has been with us for years, as far as I can rember.
BUT today one of our programmers shows me that on his workstation the lines do indeed appear! He can add new lines, delete old ones, just the way you think it should be done. I was amazed to see this though.
How can he see these vertical lines when no one else, including the dba, can!? Hotfix? Service Pack? Luck?
