case sensitive collation settings

  • Hi all

Just been looking though db server inventory, I have noticed that Case sensitive collation is currently being used, i want to move this to case insensitive, but was wondering, what would be the consequences of moving and are there any advantages to using case sensitive collation in the first place.

How does this also affect SQL 2005 migration ?

    Thanks

  • If it is just standard case sensitive collation nothing but if your collation is case sensitive because it is BIN(binary collation) which is case sensitive by default then you could get reduced performance because most accounting third party applications use BIN for performance reason because it is the fastest sort.

    Kind regards,
