Hi,
Is the SQL Browser service running on that machine? Could anything be blocking UDP port 1433 as this is the default port SQL Browser uses to report on what versions and instances of SQL Server are running on the machine?

In the Server Network Utility, is it listening on named pipes and/or TCP? If it is only TCP, verify in the TCP properties that it does not have the Hide Server checkbox enabled.
Do the instances show up when you hit the ellipses button next to the drop-down button?
