Hello all,
I am new to the concept of SQL Server hardware sizing. I come from a development background. I would appreciate it if I can get some guidance in this area. I broke down the information I have to total database txn, initial records and growth per month. Unfortunately, I do not know how to proceed further.
Thanks

Try to have the application/situation run at a machine for monitoring its performance against a known setup.

The sql server 2000 performance tuning technical reference contains details on this. Generally though you try to get the most bang for your buck when buying a server.
