One of our System Administrators queries his Oracle database using Access. He has recently updated to Access 2003 but the Oracle is still running version 7.25.
The database dsn works fine for other software but, when he runs a query, he gets a blue screen with his taskbar at the bottom; no desktop icons, no corporate desktop etc but 'Microsoft Access' in the middle of the screen. Its weird.
His queries run fine on another pc with the same setup
Any clues, anyone?

Check the MDAC versions on the two machines. It's the brains behind Access' data access.

Both pcs are identical in MDAC, Service Packs, loaded software etc. His pc was quite heavily fragmented so I'm running a defrag at the moment

We have found that the 2003 drivers cannot be used with older Oracle versions.

He is using Oracle drivers rather than Microsoft drivers for the dsn on both pcs. We had already found that the Microsoft drivers did not work with Oracle 7.25.
We are now going to uninstall and re-install Access 2003 on the pc where his queries won't run. We also uninstalled Publisher from the pc as we found that could have problems with Access and Oracle.
