This is my 10,000th (ten thousandth) post!
well err, 10K points technically, since I did spend some time on questions of the day and stuff like that.
My first post nine years ago, on Posted 4/2/2003 9:40 AM, and you can see it here:
http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic11040-4-1.aspx
I'd been lurking for a while before that.
now that I have 10K points, I wanted to ask the other high posters whether they waited until they had 12K points to redeem them for the bigger prizes, or just did it right away just to get a bunch of stuff now?
I got the email asking my size for the Polo Shirt, and started poking around the SSC premiums to see what to redeem my points for.
I'm leaning towards WalMart cards for my premium, since I'll get a better return per dollar than on food or gas station cards. I'll never get enough points for the Harley motorcycle, so that's not even on my list.

Just use DBCC Timewarp and you can the Harley today!!!
The funny thing is that your points show as 9,990 next to your icon but shows as 10,000 on the last 30 days thing.

yeah there's some lag between the sync from questions of the day vs forum posts;
they usually catch up after a half hour or less, from what i've seen.
two different systems, obviously.

Nice work Lowell! I know I've learned a few tricks from some of your 10K posts!
I just hit 1,000 today. Gotta ways to go before they're redeemable.
My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?
My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.
