I've read that DBCC INDEXDEFRAG should report progress every 5 minutes... but its not doing that for me. I'm on build 8.0.818... maybe that's why?
Anyone know reasons why dbcc indexdefrag would fail to report progress?

Answering my own question in case someone else with similar issues comes along-
BOL is Fullofit... it does report progress, but not every 5 minutes... in my case, it took serveral hours to report 1% completion.

Awe come on now Warren - it is just a 'slightly undocumented' feature is all ...
Actually I have seen it work most of the time in batch scripts, however when performing it online via SSMS I have had the same experience once in a while.
