Hi All,
I was about to connect to three servers using my Enterprise manager and i got connected to one server, the other two was giging the error like timeout expire. When i asked my temporary DBA he has helped me in connection to one server, he did was just went to client network utility and addded the server details there in alias, and we got connected to the server. I tried the same on the other server and i am unable to connect it.but i am able to connect the third server using querry analyser. What should be the problem, please help me as i am new to the Administration environment.
Thanks

Are you able to connect to the SQL Server instance through Query Analyzer or are you not able to connect to it at all?
You may want to ask the DBA which port the SQL Server is listening on and use that when creating your alias in the client network utility.
If you can connect through Query Analyzer, in the client network utility you may want to select that it uses the Named Pipes under network libraries. I believe that is the protocol that Query Analyzer uses to connect to SQL Server.
