connection from a third level domain

  • can i connect my access db or sql express db from a third level domain?

for example if i have a db in http://www.server.com, can i access this db from http://subdomain.server.com?

  • It depends on which level of AD you have.  If you are in 2003 native you can use a universal group which if I remmeber correctly can pass domain boundries if there are the proper trusts etc in place.

Also you can put you users in a domain local group on subdomain.domain.com and then give that group access to resources in the domain.com if all of the proper trusts are in place.

Here is a link about trusts etc, was one of the first results from google when I searched for trusting users from a child domain. http://www.comptechdoc.org/os/windows/win2k/win2kdomains.html
