Importing Access Database - Views coming is as tables

  • I am using DTS Import/Export Wizard to import an Access Database. Though certain sources are clearly identified as views, the wizard brings them in as tables. Any ideas? I'm running SQLServer 8.

  • when stepping through the wizard - select "copy objects and data between SQL servers" instead of "Copy table(s) and View(s) from source database"...

  • Thomas,

You may have to script out the CREATE VIEW statements from Access and run them on SQL Server to create the views.  I only have Access 97, which doesn't allow views, so I can't test this.

  • Sushila,

I can use that option on the wizard when DTS from SQL to SQL, but the option is grayed out on a DTS from Access to SQL.  Is there a way to use that option on SQL 2000?

  • use greg's suggestion and run the script for the views instead!
