  I had a Veritas backup job fail last night. Every attempt to do a quick backup to disk just sits there spinning its wheels with a wait type of ASYNC_DISKPOOL_LOCK.

  Any idea what it means or how to resolve it... I have checked disk load and its fine.

  I think that you have a possible disk bottleneck.

  Use Performance provider to chech PhysicalDisk counters for confirmation.

  A pointer to look at (IMHO)

  % Disk time - If  its >50 for long periods could be I/O Issue
