Hi Guru,
I encounter a weird problem on SQL mail. I have configured many SQL mail servers and works fine! However, One of the SQL server can't start the SQL mail. error message return
Server: Msg 18030, Level 16, State 1, Line 0
xp_startmail: Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.
I have no problem to send mail from the server using MS Outlook and set it as the default mail client. Please advise!

- does your sql-agent-service-account has the needed authorities for that email-profile ?

here is my other 2cents. Please send test email from outlook to yourself to see if you receive email from that server.
If you are unable to send email from outlook, you need to go back in and configure email according to alzdba sugestion.

Guys,
Thanks for your feedback! I able to send mail from outlook and confirmed the no problem with the account. From SQL Server agent properties on mail session. I can't select the mail profile. I have the similar problem before and it worked after restart the server and select the correct user account. I did the same thing but can't work...

Did you login to the server using sql server agent account when you set your the email profile? Your SQL Server Agent account also has to have the right to open that email profile.

If this is a WIN2K server make sure the SQL Agent service acct is in the local admin group. Also in Outlook you need to make sure that the SQL Agent mail profile is the default profile for that acct. Also in the SQLAgent properties you need to verify the connection to SQL Server. Hope this helps.
