I'd like to upgrade to Service Pack 3 for SQL 2000. Just wondering if anyone knows of any reasons NOT to upgrade ?

It does upgrade MDAC (potentially) to 2.71 (I think this is right, 2.7something). This could be an issue for some apps, I know it was here at J.D. Edwards. Some apps were broken by the MDAC change.

Hi there
The only issue I had was related to cross database ownership chaining. Read up on it if users cross call databases on the instance. One of our smaller apps fell in a heap 🙂
Cheers

sp3a should be used instead as it fixes sp3 installation & slammer issues

I loaded SP3 and experienced performance issues running my apps. When I loaded SP3a it resolved the performance issues.
I agree with selims.
After SP3a load the MDAC patch to be downloaded from Microsoft.
