I am considering running personal Oracle on the same machine as our SQL Server. The Oracle db will be used to receive Oracle dump files from an external source, which I need to get into SQL Server. My plan is to only run Oracle to import the dump files, then DTS them into SQL, then shutdown oracle.
Is anyone running both Personal Oracle and SQL on the same machine? Will running both DBs on the same server cause SQL problems?
The specs are SQL 2000, Win 2000, and Personal Oracle (whatever the latest one is, I think 9i...)
Thanks...

We've had both Oracle (8 I think) and SQL Server (7) running on a single development server.
No problems there, but we did not have any link between both databases.

I have not only run multiple instance of Oracle, but multiple versions on the same box along side SQL Server 7.0. I cannot speak for 2K, but I don't see any issues. I wouldn't worry about shutting down Oracle.
