I'm about ready to upgrade a large database (45 G) to SQL 2000 from SQL 7.0. I'd like to install the SQL2000 CD in the server and do an in-place upgrade. Has anyone done this before? Are there any gotchas?

Major thing to keep in mind is that the files will be changed to the SQL 2000 format and you cannot go back to 7 except from a backup restore. As for other things, I did a 4GB database and saw no other issues myself, but I believe if you do a search for UPGRADE and 2000 you will find several recent threads along these same lines.

The issue I am most concerned about is maintaining the account information. If the master table is upgraded, then this should not be a problem. Can anyone confirm that the acct information is upgraded when doing an in-place upgrade?
