SQL 2000 In place upgrade?

  • I'm about ready to upgrade a large database (45 G) to SQL 2000 from SQL 7.0. I'd like to install the SQL2000 CD in the server and do an in-place upgrade. Has anyone done this before? Are there any gotchas?

  • Major thing to keep in mind is that the files will be changed to the SQL 2000 format and you cannot go back to 7 except from a backup restore. As for other things, I did a 4GB database and saw no other issues myself, but I believe if you do a search for UPGRADE and 2000 you will find several recent threads along these same lines.

  • The issue I am most concerned about is maintaining the account information. If the master table is upgraded, then this should not be a problem. Can anyone confirm that the acct information is upgraded when doing an in-place upgrade?
