I've lost a SQL Server 2000 instance on my local computer. When I try to reregister it I get an error saying that it can't open the default database. Next time I'll not set up an application database as the default. How do I correct this problem to allow me to reregister SQL Server? Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Need some more detail on how you are trying to re-register the server.
You had a SQL Server running and then what happened ? Files got corrupted or disk crashed ?

Just to close this out. I had a database set up as the default and it was SQL Server was working but I unregistered and attempted to reregister the SQL 2000 MSDE to resolve some minor issue and SQL Server would not reregister because it said it couldn't open the default database. This problem no longer exists but I was never able to determine why I got the error or actually reregister without taking drastic action.
