I have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server running SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition that is on a SAN.
The 'Physical Disk' counter is not available in Performance Monitor.
Is there a reason for this?
Can I get it back?
Should I run diskperf -?(some letter here)
Thanks.

We do have sql2kem on SAN cluster and can see 'Physical Disk' counter.
Can you try connecting from some other machine and see if the counter then available.( hope you run diskpref-y and restart that is required)

Same here. I can view all the physical disk coutners and I'm on a SAN as well. You might want to verify that you have the latest driver for your HBA. It could be that Windows isn't interpreting the disks information properly.

Did you try diskperf -YD from command line? You will need to reboot the system to enable it.

I've got a similar problem .
Diskperf reports things are enabled and I have rebooted, still no physical counters.

It may be due to the drivers/software which enables Windows 2K to think those shared storage arrays are physical disks. Are you up to date on the drivers/software/firmware?
Also, what does your vendor say about support of the performance monitor counters?
