I use both and prefer XP over 2000. More features, more stability. I have Xp at work and 2K at home. Comparable machines.
I will upgrade to XP eventually and be happy everywhere!

Since SQL does not perform any better on XP than 2000 then there is no comparison. It does not cause any differences so there is nothing specific that will affect you like would occurr with building Executables from scratch. No gotchas.

I have XP at home and 2000 at work. XP nicer stabler, has benefits like device rollback.

I have both, not sure which is better. Good and bad, only using XP for about 6 months.
For SQL developemnt, not sure it matters. The interface is the same and most of what you do runs inside the server, not on your workstation tool, so it's more a personal preference. If you were doing .NET or C++ development, it would matter more.
