Hello,
We are able to connect to SQL Server 2000 through NT authentication from one computer, however on several others we are getting the following errors and was hoping for a little better idea of the source of the problem.
Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11001
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen
[gethostbyname()].
Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 11 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets][General network error. Check your network documentation.
Is this a harware issue, or something else...
Thanks,
Dan

Can you connect via sql auth?
What versions of server/clients are you using?
In v6.5, you had to connect via named pipes for nt auth.
Check that your clients are all setup the same (run client network utility on each of them).

Steve,
Thanks for the reply...
We are running SQL Server 2000.
The Clients are Win 98. Of the two clients that we were able to establish a connection with, they are Win 98 and Win 2000 WS.
When you mention "run the client network utility" is this from the SQL Server Install Disk, Client tools that you are referring to?
Thanks again,
Dan

Steve,
Sorry, I did not answer your 1st question.
We can not connect to SQL Server with NT auth nor SQL Server auth on these machines.
Thanks,
Dan

Steve,
We ended up installing the client network utility, and it looks like that solved the problem.
Thanks for your suggestions,
Dan
