I have a minor pet peeve. When you click on a link to a discussion from the newletter, if there is an existing Internet Explorer window the link will reuse that window. Most of the time it is no big deal but occationally I have been researching something which gets replaced by choosing a link from the newsletter.

That's a local setting on the client. I have one machine that pops a new tab in Firefox. The other opens a new window in IE. Not sure what I changed, but I know the IE one used to open in my existing IE window.

Hi,
In IE7 (if thats what you are using ?) there is a setting in the Tools menu, Internet Options dialog, on the General tab, where it says Tabs click the Settings button and there is a setting at the bottom 'Open links in other programs' with three choices:
I have tried these options out and they change the way links behave from Microsoft Outlook

Even without client options, in IE you can always hold the shift key while clicking, or alternatively, right click on the link and select Open in New Window.

I can't get IE7 because I am still on Windows 2000. I will use the right-click, open in new window tip. Thanks.

In IE6, go to Tools, Internet Options, then select the Advanced tab. Scroll down a little, looking for “Reuse windows for launching shortcuts”. Uncheck it, and it will fix the issue; I just did it on my machine and tested it (because I was having the same problem - thanks for asking the question!)
Fewer fingers required...
