Required reading for new-comers

  • Can we make this link required reading for new people coming to the site?? Possibly make them take a test to see if they understand it before access is given? Or redirect them each time they login, say for the 1st 10 (100?) times?? This is a semi-tongue-in-cheek/semi-serious item. I do think it should be somehow presented during signup or something along those lines, maybe in the welcoming email or maybe something like when you install new softeware where you'd have to "check" that you've read the statement and agree to the terms:D. While I enjoy helping where I can (and learning a lot where I can't), it seems to be more common recently that we have to drag information from someone in order to help THEM.

  • It would be nice, but most people would scroll to the bottom, click the check box, and move on.

It comes in cycles. Lots of new people, have to teach them how to post, how to appropriately ask. Keep the link handy 🙂
