I finally added WinXP SP2 to my system yesterday (along with a lot of other security updates/patches through Automatic Updates) and now my backups and data exports are failing. Further, when I open my "Enterprise Manager" and try to export data ("All Tasks-Export-...") using the Import/Export Wizard, it won't let me select the "Export From" database.

Is your SQL Server instance running under this updated Windows XP? Or are you just running Enterprise Manager on XP connecting to SQL Server on a server?
If you are running the database on XP, SP2 introduces many restrictions on Distributed Transaction Controller (DTC), and TCP firewall settings. There are a large number of items to check and reset. Start at the SP2 support page at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=windowsxpsp2. I would also suggest a MS KB search using advanced search, set Windows XP Service Pack 2 as the product, and "SQL Server" (in quotes) as the search term.
Hope this helps
