Today's script of the day was the retraction of a submission over concerns the Red-Gate claims copyright to all content on SQL Server Central. Should this be a concern? I have submitted also, with no intent of giving up any rights to the code.
Pardon me if this is in the wrong forum.

I moved the post
Red Gate doesn't take copyright for submisions (articles or scripts). We have agreements listed here that you agree to in posting giving perpetual publication rights, but not copyright.

Here is the link for those that are wondering: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/scripts/viewscript.asp?scriptid=1243
There were a number of quite contentious threads some time ago about how the sql server user community will lose out by having Red Gate coopting the sqlservercentral website. I personally agreed that it was not a good thing in the whole and wonder if this isn't another small reflection of that loss.

Kevin,
We might not have the whole picture....but it sounds to me like someone:
1. posted a script
2. 'thought' that Red Gate claims copyright ownership of scripts on this site
3. pulled their script.
IF that is true...
It has nothing to do with Red Gate. It is a mis-understanding by the person who posted/pulle their script. I agree with what Steve says...I have NEVER seen anything on this site claiming they own the copyright to scripts we post. They DO claim publishing rights which is a different thing. And that doesnot mean you can't publish your script....it just means SQLServerCentral.com has the right to publish your script and make money off it forever without paying you a penny. Maybe that's why the script poster pulled it. Unless they post their reasoning, we may never know whether it was a misunderstanding or because of the publishing issue.
