Hi All,
With the growing complexity of out SQL environments and the need to review impact before implementing a Change, I was wondering if there was software (freeware?) that aids in charting how long each DTS/SSIS job on each SQL Server runs for and outputs it to something like a timeline similar to MS Project? Something that could be regularly re-run would be invaluable as it would help with tracking how schedules have changed.
TIA

SQL Sentry would do that if you run all DTS/SSIS packages as a job. And a lot more. Might be overkill for you, but take a look.

I've tried Excel, Outlook, and Project to do this and it was a mess everytime. The biggest reason was the granularity of minutes for jobs instead of hours or days as most tools use.
sqlSentry is the only thing I've seen to do this well. I have had many people tell me how well it works for them. Not sure of pricing, but I'd seriously think about trying it and then making a case for better management of your environment.
Tell Peter Shire over there we say "hi"
