General network error in sql server 2000

    Hi all,

    I am getting this error in the log file. And some of the scheduled jobs are failing at that time. If the job is executed manually ,it runs successfully.

    What could be the rerason for this issue?

    2007-02-05 13:00:01 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 11, General network error. Check your network documentation. [SQLSTATE 08S01]

    2007-02-05 13:00:01 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 10054, ConnectionRead (recv()). [SQLSTATE 01000]

    >> Did you checked the sql agent log ? what does it says?

    >> Have you enabled the lightweight pooling ?

    >> What is version of the SQL server @@version ?

    Try Adding the SQL Server machine name in the " Client netwrok utility"

    Did u check if there is any scheduled SQL restart of the server at that time. As this will cause the agent not to access the SQL server resulting in General Network Error.

    Are you dealing with linked servers ? Possible UDB2 ? If so have a peek ...
