Changing SQL server 2000 service account password

  • hi,

Do we have to stop and restart the services when we change the service account password?

Do we have to do any thing different when changing service account password on a active passive cluster.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

No, but I would advise doing so just to make sure that the password is correct. Also, a vaveat is that you need to use EM as oposed to the Computer Management .msc because SP4 will complain and fail because EM does some registry permissions stuff behind the scene.

Same as the previous answer, however you need to use the Cluster Administrator to failover/failback.
