Greetings,
On a sql2000 server, all jobs scheduled in SQLAgent are running twice at their scheduled times. For example, a tran log backup scheduled for 4PM ran twice at 4PM. One of those occurances fails, the other succeeds.
I stopped/started the SQLAgent, but that didn't help. I then rebuilt the maint plan, and that seemed to work, the log appears to be backed up just once at it's scheduled time.
But now I'm seeing all of the other jobs running twice. Most of them aren't part of maint plans, so my earlier solution doesn't apply now.
Any ideas? I'm waiting to hear if a reboot of the server is possible.
Thank you kindly for any input!

I found the answer. Someone had started sqlagent via the command prompt, which starts even though the regular service is already running. This meant that sqlagent was running twice, which resulted in each job starting twice. Killing the extra sqlagent.exe put things back to normal, without even needing a reboot.

Running multi-instance (2 in this case) of SQL Agent, hmmm. Isn't that a BUG in SQL Server?
May be I'm wrong.
