Can SQL server send SMS messages when an Error occurs?

  Hi All,

  I need to help the Developers at my work with the Error logging abilities on the DTSs etc. Currently there is none/very little error logging in the processes, and hence when things don't work, they end up spending almost a day a week trying to find what the error is and then fixing it.

  I know that SQL 2000 only sends an email/pager/net send, but I was wondering if it is possible to send SMS messages when an error occurs. Or is it that for immediate notification when you are not at work, Pager is the only option? Do I need install anything special if I use the pager alert method?

  If you can send SMS through an email, you can use that.
