Voting on articles

  • Hi there,

been nearly two weeks off, so I just noticed the monthly contest. In that context you'll get points based on votings on articles. Recently I've seen many articles which have no voting at all. So I tried to vote on an article by clicking on the button, but nothing seems to happen. I was only redirected to the articles' discussion area. Next time I visited the article nothing had changed, that is my voting was not recorded anywhere.

But then I see some articles that do have votings. Where is the difference?

  • This was removed by the editor as SPAM

  • Nothing like answering my own questions

With the contest it seems to make sense. Am I right?

But why can be voted on scripts and FAQs?

  • The short answer is: It's broke

Actually the article voting is part of the new asp.net stuff and the scripts/faqs are the old ASP and so we haven't gotten them working yet. Actually just one of us and it isn't me because I don't have the ASP.NET skills to get it working.

It's coming, hang in there Frank

  • What a shame, Steve!

  • Seem to be my slow hours in the evening

Why are there then articles with a rating, Steve?

  • I stumbled on this article because I'm trying to figure out how to vote. So, how do I vote?

  • It's a strange browser/login combination. There are many people that can vote. For some reason others don't populate part of the session correctly.

I know it seems like it should work. Works for me. But it entailed quite a few fundamental architectural changes, so we decided to rewrite the site instead of fixing this kludgy thing. We hope to be done soon, like a week or two.
