Hi,
Would someone know if there was a way to change from a per seat license to a CPU license. I remember at install time, the question was asked if was a seat or cpu license.
Thanks You for the help.

Hi Charles,
According to BOL...
quote:
Once a licensing mode is set, you cannot change modes. You can add device or processor licenses after installing SQL Server, using the SQL Server 2000 Licensing Setup utility in Control Panel. (Do not confuse this licensing utility with the Windows Licensing utility, also found in Control Panel.)
To be honest I've never considered changing modes, so I had to revert to BOL to find out where changes can be made. For some reason I had thought that a one time change from "per device" to "per processor", but that may have been a previous version.
More licensing grief can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/faq.asp#C

Hi there
Try this:
Run Regedit
Navigate to \Microsoft SQL Server\80\MSSQLLicenceInfo\MSSQL8.00
edit the Mode value, change to 1
totally unsupported 🙂
Cheers
