I'm using SQL 2000 for my PeopleSoft backend. An odd thing happens to my system database, tempdb. This guy sometimes grows, very large. My question is How large should tempdb be allowed to grow. PeopleSoft guys, how big is your tempdb?

It has to go as large as it needs, right? Make sure it does not run out of disk spaces and meanwhile, try to find out what are happening to the growth.
I am running Large SAP system with 8GB tempdb allocated and set it to auto growth.
