sql 2k server install

  • I've got a preconfigured Win2K server with IIS5. I need to install SQL 2K server on it.

The system specs are as follows:

    processor - Intel 1.2ghz Celeron

    memory - 640mb

hard drives - 3 drives at 40gb each and 2 volumes per drive

    drive 1 - 20gb Operating System and 20gb free

drive 2 - 20gb for Web project site files and 20gb free

    drive 3 - 20gb free and 20gb free

How should I install/configure SQL 2K server on this preconfigured test server to get the best results for IIS and SQL server?

    Thanks,

    William

  • The answer is: it depends. A simple configuration is to put the log file on one disk, a primary file group on another disk.

From there options include putting on a secondary file group, mirroring the disks for the primary and secondary file group.

I suggest start simple and develop more sophisticated techniques as you go along. [The] important thing is to have a good backpup and restore system along with installing the patches.

    Good luck,

    Kevin
