  Were in the process of updating our nightly backup jobs to start shrinking the databases and logs. The past few days were running into many problems with trans logs filling up.

  What is the proper sequence and systax needed to successfully shrink the databases,logs and to have a successfull backup each night? also is it a good idea to shrink the databases/logs every night?

  I cannot think of a good reason tho shrink databases and logs every night. The growth back on the next day only costs extra performance.

  If the trans logs fill up you can do more trans log backups during the day or go to the simple recovery model.
