I am currently setup to receive security alerts from Microsoft but I don't always know when a new security patch or a new service pack is available for SQL Server.
Currently, I maintain my awareness of these things by the simple fact of working with SQL Server and I am always checking for these types of things.
How do the rest of you remain aware of new SPs and security patches?
I am having to document all of my company-specific SQL Server administration duties and this is one of the things they want.
Thanks for the input.

Typically one of us posts in the service pack or security section of the forums here as soon as a new patch or SP is released.

Hi hawg,
subscribing to MS security alerts is a starting point I also use. Further I keep my eyes open while joining forums like this one. There are also mailinglist from websites like http://www.securityfocus.com or alike. This has proven to work fine, but I doubt you can write this down in some kind of company security guidelines
Cheers,
Frank
