Hi there,
we try to install MSDE (for SQL2000) on Windows 2000 SP2 or Windows NT 4.0(SP6a).
(On plain systems or on systems with MS-Office 2000 SR1 installed - it doesn't matter)
Everytime we get the following error messagebox during installation:
"Service 'SQLSERVERAGENT' (SQLSERVERAGENT) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficent privileges to stop system services."
We are using the adminstrator account to install the MSDE. The insteressting thing is, in the LOG-File (gernerated by the Installationprocess) you'll find the following information: (Just parts of it)
1: {E09B48B5-E141-427A-AB0C-D3605127224A} 2: {E04F76B9-43EC-46DA-A6A4-B64F2A69A438}

Hi,
we are using an account with admin-rights! But that doesn't help. Still the same error message.

This is trying to stop SQLSERVERAGENT which means it must be running. Are you running a previous instance on the box in question or is this suppoossed to be a brand new install. If the later then check service and see where the current install is as well as add/remove programs.

Hi,
it is a brand new install on a plain system with nothing installed except the service packs of windows.
