In our datacenter environment, we are looking for a database monitoring software with which it would be possible to monitor different RDBMSs (presently we support clients with MS SQL Server, ORACLE, and DB2) and multiple instances on multiple servers, with reporting possibilites, threshold monitoring and alert generation possibilities. I've looked at Embarcadero's DBArtisan and Performance Center (presently for ORACLE only but expanding in the next quarters) and BMC's WebDBA. Are there any other suggestions for monitoring tools that anyone has? Experiences to recommend or avoid? I'm open to input?
Thank you so much in advance.

I personally liked netIQ for our MS-SQL boxes. With the new version you should be able to monitor all your boxes UNIX or MS alike. There is alot of flexability with the product and it isn't that hard to use IMHO. We currently use HP Openview/VPO to do some fo the same things and I find myself running up against walls on the MS side with sql 2000. HP OV/VPO isn't user friendly in any way shape or form but is very customizable.
